• Thunderbird Essentials

Buttons! I have some server based rules & spam training, so I need to drop any spam that hasn’t been caught in a specific folder, so that a it will get picked up by the server as spam and used to train the spam filter, the simplest way I’ve found of doing this in Thunderbird is using Buttons! to have a couple of shortcut folders on my toolbar, not quite as slick as a macro in mutt 🙂 Enigmail
  • Firefox Essentials

If you use firefox, you need Tab Mix Plus. The site is here, and you can install it from here. I used to use Session Saver .2 & some japanese fellow’s Tabbed Browsing Extensions, but this does it all, it’s much slicker & I’m very happy 🙂 Update: 14th July 2006 I’m considering adding Bookmarks Synchronizer 3 to this list..
  • Bruce Perens & Richard Stallman to visit Belfast!

Book a date in your diaries folks, if you’re in Belfast, or can get to Belfast on the 16th March, you now have somewhere to be: foss means business, big thanks to Ciaran O’Riordan & co for setting this up. Others have also blogged on this, so here’s some linkage to help google 🙂 DW, Paul Gregg, Indymedia Ireland, Bagel Belly Blog, eWeek
  • More great Thunderbid extensions!

After I made the move from mutt, which is one of the most customizable email tools for power users, one of the features I missed the most was ignore & unignore statements, which allow you to control what headers get shown. For a while I have been using a button/extension called “View Headers Toggle Button”, then I found mnenhy, which allows you to pick & choose which headers you get to view in the normal email reading window.
  • libsasl2-modules

Grrr, I always forget to install this when using cyrus & sieve on debian!
  • Things I want to do….

..some projects i wish I had more time to work on: Mobile Phone Bill Parser – I’ve started this, in Perl with CDBI, it’ll load in an O2 downloaded bill, the idea is to have Business/Personal against each number in my address book, so that I can easily prepare an expenses claim, also handle the standard call rates, so that my free minutes don’t get given to my company 🙂 I’ve been getting very disolusioned with CDBI more interested in Java, so I might try and redo this in Trails…
  • Getting Cisco IOS & Racoon IPSec to play ball..

..ok, none of this is hard, but I get stuck in the odd place, mainly the Cisco router throwing this: ISAKMP (0:1): Checking IPSec proposal 1 ISAKMP: transform 1, ESP_3DES ISAKMP: attributes in transform: ISAKMP: SA life type in seconds ISAKMP: SA life duration (basic) of 28800 ISAKMP: encaps is 1 ISAKMP: authenticator is HMAC-SHA ISAKMP: group is 2 validate proposal 0 IPSEC(vaidate_proposal): transform proposal (prot 3, trans 3, hmac_alg 2) not supported
  • Instant Messaging & PHP

A friend of mine, Paul Synnott, has a new project, php121, an online, client-less Instant Messaging tool for websites & communities etc, surf on over & have a look if that kind of thing floats your boat 🙂
